StriKing Tournaments

The 2013 StriKing Amateur Muay Thai Tournament was a huge success! Congratulations to all of our new champions.

StriKing will be holding our second annual Amateur Muay Thai Tournament on the first weekend in November, 2014. Please make plans to join us as hundredss of Amateur Muay Thai fighters come together for another exciting weekend of Muay Thai!

The tournament is open to Men, Women, and Children at all levels of experience. We also have a "Masters" division for adults age 38 and over. You can find a listing of tournament divisions and skill classes by clicking here.

All tournament fights will be fought and judged in accordance with USMTA Amateur Muay Thai rules.

 

Divisions

Available divisions are:

  • Adult (separate divisions for male and female, Class A, B, and C)
  • Adult Masters (age 38+, separate divisions for male and female, Class C only)
  • Kids Age 8-9 (separate divisions for male and female, Class A, B, and C)
  • Kids Age 10-12 (separate divisions for male and female, Class A, B, and C)
  • Kids Age 13-15 (separate divisions for male and female, Class A, B, and C)
  • Kids Age 16-17 (separate divisions for male and female, Class A, B, and C)

Tournament divisions are split up into classes by fight experience. Your fight experience number includes ALL striking-based fights that you have ever fought, including Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, MMA, etc. Your fight experience DOES include smokers and exhibitions, so be sure to include those when figuring out what Class you belong in.

Classes are as follows:

  • Class A (open): 10+ total fights
  • Class B: 4-9 total fights
  • Class C: 0-3 total fights

  • Light Roosterweight – 55
  • Roosterweight – 65
  • Super Roosterweight – 75
  • Light Atomweight – 85
  • Atomweight – 95
  • Super Atomweight – 105
  • Strawweight – 115
  • Flyweight – 125
  • Bantamweight – 135
  • Featherweight – 145
  • Lightweight – 155
  • Welterweight – 165
  • Middleweight – 175
  • Light Heavyweight – 185
  • Cruiserweight – 200
  • Heavyweight – 215
  • Super Heavyweight – 215+
  • 215+

Kids over 97 pounds will use adult weight classes.

Adult weight classes:

  • Atomweight – 105
  • Strawweight – 115
  • Flyweight – 125
  • Bantamweight – 135
  • Featherweight – 145
  • Lightweight – 155
  • Welterweight – 165
  • Middleweight – 175
  • Light Heavyweight – 185
  • Cruiserweight – 200
  • Heavyweight – 215
  • Super Heavyweight – 215+

 

Gear

All tournament fights will be conducted with headgear, shinpads, mouthpieces, hand wraps (or gauze and tape) groin protection (cups) for males, and boxing gloves.

Fighters will need to bring their own:

  • Headgear - Must be open-faced headgear without nose or chin protection
  • Shinpads - may be cloth, leather, or neoprene, and can pull on or fasten with velcro or buckles. Any metal clasps must be covered with tape. Shinpads must cover the entire shin, must be in good condition, and need to be taped on to prevent slipping.
  • Mouthpiece
  • Training handwraps or gauze and tape for wrapping hands - Tape must be one finger's widh back from the knuckles. All fighters must have wraps checked and signed by the USMTA representative before putting on fight gloves.
  • Groin protection (cup) for males

We will provide gloves. Fighters must use our provided tournament gloves.
